Wendy Lehnertz, LMFT
Author
Trauma & Relationship Specialist

With more than 20 years of experience, Wendy is passionate about helping individuals and couples build healthier relationships, heal from past wounds, and develop a stronger, more authentic sense of self. She believes that lasting change begins in a safe, compassionate environment where clients feel truly seen, understood, and valued.
Wendy works collaboratively with clients to identify and transform the patterns that may be keeping them stuck. She specializes in relationship challenges, boundaries, anxiety, trauma, grief, depression, domestic violence, and difficulties related to sexual intimacy including infidelity, sexual addiction, and recovery from sexual abuse.
Using a blend of evidence-based approaches—including Attachment Theory, EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Gestalt Therapy, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, and mindfulness—Wendy tailors therapy to each client's unique needs. Her experiential approach helps clients gain deeper self-awareness, discover their inner strengths, and create meaningful, lasting change.
Wendy is also trained in Intimacy from the Inside Out (IFIO) and the Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy (PACT), an evidence-based models that help couples strengthen emotional connection and create secure, lasting

relationships. From her years of practice, she is convinced it is vital to have an emotionally attuned clinician that understands our brains are wired for connection—and how our mind, body, and spirit work together—can transform the way we relate to ourselves and those we love.
In addition to her clinical work, Wendy is deeply committed to mentoring the next generation of therapists. She has supervised and mentored clinicians across the country, served for eight years on the founding faculty of the Marriage and Family Therapy Program at Fuller Theological Seminary in Phoenix, built a thriving multi-site counseling practice in Arizona, and served on the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health. Through teaching, speaking, and mentoring, Wendy continues to invest in strengthening both the counseling profession and the communities it serves.
